About
I’m Monica Leal Cueva, an artist and creative consultant with over 12 years of experience helping other artists
I found my way into the art world by helping artists behind the scenes. I built websites, photographed artwork, and assisted with exhibitions. This practical work taught me how to support creative people in a thoughtful way.
A graduate of Communication Sciences and visual artist, I worked closely with artist Tom Wudl for over a decade, managing his private instruction studio and supporting his painting practice.
I now co-own the studio, which serves over 30+ working artists locally in Los Angeles, CA and remotely anywhere in the world.
I’ve worked with artists at every stage whether emerging, mid-career, or established and, I know how overwhelming the demands of the art world can be. I founded Creative Ally to offer the kind of clear, personalized support artists need to meet those demands.
When I’m not working, I’m probably painting, camping, loving on my cats, or planning my next adventure.
I live and work in Los Angeles, CA.
I work best with artists who are serious about their practice but don’t want to manage the digital, administrative, or promotional tasks on their own. Many of my clients have been making work for decades but haven’t had the time or interest to build an online presence or organize their work for future opportunities.
Why artists? Artists think and work differently, which means no two projects are the same. Helping them bring structure to their ideas and get their work out into the world is what I do best.
Who I like
to work with
Clarity in design, communication, structure, and intention.
Respect for each artist’s rhythm and voice.
Elegance and quality as simplicity with a purpose
The creative process as complex, deeply human work behind the art and, behind the effort we make to bring it to the world.
When working
I value
I live with three cats and three fish in the heart of Los Angeles. I’m happiest when the day starts quietly with a good coffee. What I love the most to do is paint in the studio or go to remote places to explore and photograph.
My mind is always moving: curious, visual, full of ideas (sometimes too many!).
I always travel with my camera, gouache paints, brushes, and watercolor paper in case something calls to be made.
Beyond my work,
a little bit about me
